How do I know which variety is
right for me?
There are many factors to
consider when choosing which
variety is right for you. For
instance, is the area shady or
full sun, and is it a high
traffic area? Click

compares all the different
varities. You can also call us

offer and the differences
between them.

All of our varieties
require at least 3 hours
of filtered sun per day
When is the best time to lay
sod?
Sod
can be installed year-round;
however, laying sod during the
heat of the summer requires more
water than during cooler
months.
How do I prepare my yard prior
to laying sod?
-
Measure the area you wish to
lay sod
-
We suggest killing all
vegetation prior to laying
the new sod
-
For best results, rot till
or spade the area to a depth
of 10-15 cm
-
Level the soil approximately
one-inch below hard surfaces
such as sidewalks and
driveways
-
Water the prepared area to
settle soil and to provide a
moist base for sod
Should I install it myself or
have you install it?
We
offer installation at a very
reasonable price that will save
you hours of labor. If you are
interest in installing it
yourself, we recommend
installing your sod as soon as
possible after delivery. The
longer the plant stays on the
pallet, the more time it spends
without water and sunlight. We
also suggest to avoid repeated
walking or kneeling on the sod
during installation or just
after watering. A sod
roller helps to increase the
sod-to-ground contact. You can
usually rent a sod roller at
equipment rental stores.
How much should I water?
Water your new sod within ½ hour
of installation and water it
thoroughly (30-45 minutes).
Then, for the next 10 days,
water your lawn 1-2 times/day
for approximately 6-10 minutes
each watering (increase the
watering to 2-3 times/day during
hotter months). The sod absorbs
its moisture from the leaves
until the roots are establish.
It is better to water frequently
for the first 10 days than to
apply deeper watering less
frequently. After the roots are
established, you can move to
less frequent and deeper
watering.
-
Sod laid in shadier
areas may require less
watering
-
Please refer to the
variety chart to
find how much watering
your new sod requires
When can I mow?
During the first two-three
weeks, avoid heavy or
concentrated use of your new
lawn. This will give the roots
an opportunity to firmly knit
with the soil, and insures the
sod will remain smooth. Mowing
should take place after the
roots have established
(Approximately 10-12 days).
When should I fertilize?
Our
sod arrives fertilized. Wait 30
days before applying
fertilizer.
Here
is an easy schedule to remember
when it comes to fertilizing:
Fertilize near Valentine’s Day,
Memorial Day, Labor Day and
Halloween
